Question: A customer of ours has a 2011 Audi A6 with a rattling noise from the fascia area when driving above 20 mph (35 kph). The rattling noise sounds as though it is coming from the RH side of the fascia, but it can be difficult to pin-point. Have you come across this rattling noise before?
Answer: Yes, the rattling noise you describe could be due to excessive free play between the starter motor wiring harness bracket lug and the aperture in the chassis leg. Detach the starter motor wiring harness bracket from the RH front chassis leg. Using fabric tape, wrap the fabric tape around the lug for the starter motor wiring harness bracket 4 times fig1.1. Refit the starter motor wiring harness bracket to the chassis leg. Ensure a tight fit between the starter motor wiring harness bracket lug and aperture in the chassis leg. Carry out a road test to confirm the rattling noise has been eliminated.
