BMW condition based service

Thursday 4th June 2015
Print Article

A common problem we are having with the replacement of the brakes on BMW vehicles fitted with a condition based service indicator.  When checking the condition of the brakes on the service menu, the technician then performs a brake pad reset after replacing the pads. But the problem occurs when they do not replace the wear sensor because it seems OK. The warning system will now display on the scan tool a default value of 255%, a default figure . The solution is to replace the wear sensor and then perform the reset. The values displayed will now show 100% for the brake condition. Also remember to clear the fault codes in the ABS ESP menu.
